Antique Ansonia Black Mantel Clock with Gilt Metal Mounts (c. 1890–1910)
A late-19th to early-20th century mantel clock by the Ansonia Clock Company of New York — one of America's most prominent clockmakers. The black enameled case is accented with ornate gilt-metal mounts and a decorative gilt bezel framing a white enamel Roman-numeral dial, marked along the lower edge "Ansonia Clock Co., New York, United States of America."
It retains its original black steel hands and dual winding arbors for the time-and-strike movement. The case captures the Victorian taste for decorative mantel clocks, pairing classical styling with rich black-and-gold contrast — a handsome statement piece for a mantel, shelf, or study.
